Walking Every Step with Compassion, Dignity, and Love
At Ripley Crossing, dementia care is more than a program — it is a promise.
From our early days as Milan Health Care, our leadership recognized the growing need for specialized support for individuals living with dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. We stepped forward with a commitment not only to learn the clinical aspects of this disease, but to understand the human experience behind it.
Because behind every diagnosis is a mother, a father, a spouse, a neighbor — a life filled with stories.
“There is one thing Alzheimer’s cannot take away, and that is love. Love is not a memory — it’s a feeling that resides in the soul.”
That belief lives within our walls every day.
A Memory Care Community Designed with Purpose
We understand that dementia changes how a person sees and interacts with the world. That is why Ripley Crossing offers a thoughtfully designed, three-stage memory care model. Each wing is structured to meet residents exactly where they are — providing the right balance of independence, support, and comfort as needs evolve.
Our secured environment offers families peace of mind, while our programming brings purpose and joy to each day.
Wing 1: Early Stage Dementia
Encouraging Confidence & Connection
In the early stage, many residents remain active, social, and engaged. Our goal is to preserve independence while surrounding them with structure and support.
Residents enjoy:
- A secure courtyard with birdbaths, flowers, and covered porch seating
- Access to a full kitchen for baking, cooking, and family celebrations
- Morning Sittercise and weekly bowling
- Bingo for “Bingo Bucks”
- Daily coffee socials, trivia, crafts, and meaningful group activities
This wing is vibrant and community-focused. Laughter is common. Conversations are shared. Independence is honored.
We focus on what residents can do — not what they have lost.
Wing 2: Mid-Stage Dementia
Support When It’s Needed Most
As dementia progresses, daily tasks may become more challenging. Residents may need help with sequencing steps, dressing, or navigating their surroundings. This is where structure and reassurance become essential.
Wing 2 provides:
- Secure wandering areas for safe movement
- Therapeutic life stations (nursery, reading nook, kitchen table)
- Personalized shadow boxes outside each room to spark recognition
- A private, secured patio with pergola seating
Activities remain engaging but adapted:
- Exercise, noodle ball, golf, bowling
- Bingo with small prizes
- Cooking in crockpots and toaster ovens
- Music, audiobooks, and sensory experiences
On this wing, our staff stand beside residents — gently guiding, redirecting, and reassuring. Families often tell us this stage is the hardest. We make sure they never walk it alone.
Wing 3: Late Stage Dementia
Comfort. Presence. Human Connection.
In the later stages, our focus shifts to comfort, dignity, and meaningful connection.
Residents often require full assistance with daily care, and communication may become limited. But even here, connection remains powerful.
Wing 3 offers:
- Highly trained dementia caregivers
- A calming, uplifting environment
- Sensory-based therapies including music, touch, and soothing stimulation
- Compassionate assistance with dining and personal care
A gentle hand. A familiar voice. A quiet moment of reassurance. These are not small things — they are everything.
