Respite Care

Respite stays allows caregivers from home to start a new job, recuperate from an illness, the ability to travel, or go out of town, and more.

Some families express a need for a relief from caregiving and that is very understandable. Your loved one will be in great hands while you tend to your own needs. They will be provided meals, showers, activities, medication and more. This is a short term basis stay, but if the need for extensive or extended stay arises, we can accommodate that also.

When the need arises, we will carefully and thoroughly evaluate your loved one to ensure what area of the facility would best suite their needs. The benefits of respite care for your loved one include a new environment for stimulation and interactment with new peers. We want to ease your mind and provide you comfort knowing that your loved one is being cared for by professionals in a home like setting.

Caregiving is demanding

— and it’s normal to need a break. Seeking help does not make you a failure. Remember that respite services benefit the person with dementia as well as the caregiver. We offer support and have many knowledgeable resources that will make your caregiving role easier. Just ask the front desk for more information or give us a call at 812-654-2231.

Respite Care Tip:

Emergencies, unplanned situations or unexpected trips can create a need for immediate care by an alternative caregiver. Try providers out in a non-emergency situation, so you’re ready if the need arises. Also, talk with people you trust — including family, friends and neighbors — about helping out in an emergency. It’s a good idea to have contact information for the person with dementia’s medical team as well as a list of all current medications (with dosage and frequency taken) easily accessible at all times.
